Additions

  • Inventory System - Items can be picked up and added to the players inventory,  moved around with the mouse, and dropped or used. Descriptions, names, and uses have been implemented. This will be expanded upon in future updates as the game develops
  • Vehicles - Added a new parking brake system to help when stopping the car on slopes. Updated the UI to include the controls
  • 4 new music tracks - 2 daytime, 2 nighttime tracks
  • Audio - Wrote an entire dynamic audio manager to help with the project as it scales. This isn't super applicable to the gameplay but I'm pretty proud of it and it will help speed up development!
  • New Main Menu background
  • Headlamp - batteries can now be loaded after 50% battery level

Bugfixes/Tweaks

  • Vehicles can now reverse. This was caused by a simple calculation ordering issue.
  • Updated the in-game credits to reflect the use of HSV Color Picker by judah4
  • Updated the in-game font from New York to Cinzel
  • Updated the UI in many places to have button backgrounds instead of just plain text
  • Updated post processing
  • Updated game logo


Notes

  • There is now a public Trello board where you can track what I'm working on in real-time, if thats something you are interested in!
  • I've started outlining the games design and story slightly as we approach Alpha 1(check Trello board for progress). 
  • There were SUPPOSED to be trees all over the terrain in this update but I'm having some issues with Unitys Universal Render Pipeline and the tree billboarding system, so this has been moved back. I might switch to the Scriptable Render Pipeline but unsure about this at the moment. Eventually the environment won't look so bad, I promise lol
